Int'l LLL Convention

Int. LLL Convention Summary:
The 93rd International Lutheran Laymen’s League convention was held in Omaha,Nebraska July 22-25, 2010. Approximately 19 North Dakotans attended.
Here are some of the highlights:
Theme: Spirit Driven: For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
Business Meeting: A resounding yes vote was made to reorganize and downsize the governing body of the LLL. Mick Onnen was re-elected as the Int. LLL President.
Many International Directors from various countries around the world displayed artifacts and visited about the joys and difficulties with the ministry in their countries.
Many exhibitors shared information and gave away candy and promotional items.
Over 700 went to the Strategic Air and Space Museum. A picnic supper was served under the wings of the large aircraft in the museum. The Avi8tors entertained with a USO type show.
Pastor Kenneth Klaus, Lutheran Hour speaker, gave some riveting sermons. He told the group he was resigning to spend more time with family, but would still serve the LLL as a volunteer.
Jan Struck, Struckwithlaughter.org, shared stories of her life in an interview with Phyllis Wallace, Woman To Woman host. Jan also entertained us with her unique humor at the Saturday banquet.
Breakout Sessions: Three sets of 12 Prairie Fire sessions were held on Saturday. These were designed to provide ideas and resources on ministry and mission to equip attendees to share the Good News of Christ Jesus in their congregation and communities.
The Lutheran Hour Celebration Event was held Saturday which included the Parade of Nations where the international directors, dressed in traditional garb, carried in the flags from each nation where LHM has international offices.
94th Convention will be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, July 26-29, 2012.
All convention attendees left Omaha spiritually uplifted and spirit driven to continue the Lord’s work without timidity.
